Why I Write

I decided to start this blog for a simple reason: I want to write.

I don’t put much out into the public digital world. I have no social media accounts to post to or even send my digital thumbs-ups and hearts to the content I enjoy. Don’t get me wrong, I consume plenty of content from the digital world, mainly through RSS feeds. I love being disconnected from the social media hustle of addictive doomscrolling and privacy infringements. Every single social media site is designed specifically to extract the maximum amount of either money or data from me. I hate it, so why would I contribute to it?

Right now, I produce no content. I was happy with that for a long time, resigned to live my life happily secluded to anonymously consuming content online. Recently, I’ve come around to wanting to have something I create out in the public world. It’s honestly not a vanity project; I don’t think I have some unique knowledge that I must share with the world. It’s about sharing my ideas, which are a part of who I am. Not out of a sense of superiority or duty, but just to connect with people, even if the connection is one-sided. Maybe you agree with me or vehemontly disagree. Either way, I’d love to hear about it!

Writing is a beautiful art that I didn’t appreciate until I was older. Communicating ideas is difficult, maybe even more difficult than coming up with the right ideas in the first place. Writing can help you think about your ideas in new ways. It forces you to organize your thoughts, do something constructive, and open up new lines of communication with other people. Writing comes in many different forms, each with its own beauty. Maybe you are writing a poem where you are condensing complex emotions and thoughts into a few beautifully orchestrated words. Alternatively, maybe you are elaborating on an idea that seems simple at first glance, but is actually complex and worthy of deeper thought.

So what do I write? I love reading about things people are passionate about. I don’t care if you’re writing about a deep philosophical idea I agree with or the qualities that make Icelandic horses unique, a topic I know nothing about. So that is what I plan to write about, things I have passion for. They might be deep ideas that have been rattling around my head for years or a quick interesting tidbit I came across in my readings. The topic might be tech, parenting, meditation, or maybe one day, Icelandic horses. Either way, it will be something I find interesting, and hopefully I can share that passion with you.

With all that being said, welcome to my little corner of the internet, I appreciate you spending time to read this. I don’t know what I will post about in the future, but I am really looking forward to it!
